Student Support Specialist
Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services
Syracuse, New York (ONSITE)

FULL-TIME: 40 hours, nonexempt


Coordinated Care Services Inc (CCSI) seeks talented Student Support Specialists to contribute their expertise in providing essential business services to our provider organizations and customers. The Student Support Specialists work with a caseload of up to 25 at-risk students within a school district, helping to identify and remove barriers impacting a student’s performance at school. This role plays an essential part in building collaborative partnerships with schools and community-based services that lead to the success of the students they are working with. CCSI is partnering with the Onondaga County School-Based Initiative (SBI) and Family Support for Student Success (FSSS) to hire Student Support Specialists. This position is employed by CCSI and works on behalf of the Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services.


In this role, you will be

  • Providing school-based assessments, planned interventions, supportive counseling, and ongoing documentation with the goal of improving academic success
  • Collaboratively working with Family Specialists and collaborative partners to coordinate school-based services and supports for identified students
  • Facilitate planned intervention and collaborative problem-solving with students, families, school personnel, and community partners
  • Serving as a resource in the school building and as a team member within school-based school intervention teams to identify, engage, and assist at-risk students within assigned schools
  • Providing door-to-door transportation as required. Ensure the safety and welfare of passengers during loading, unloading, and transit. Make use of a personal vehicle for program transportation as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's in human services with 3 years of related experience is required. Masters in Social work is preferred, or equivalent education and work experience (see CCSI's equivalency chart ).


Additional Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of all required background screenings.
  • Valid class D New York State Driver's License and access to a motor vehicle insured with $300,000 liability coverage to meet transportation requirements.
