Organizational Overview:

Convention of States Action is a 501(c)(4) grassroots nonprofit organization committed to restoring America by living out our mission of building a grassroots army of self-governing activists (www.conventionofstates.com). In doing so, we strive to call a Convention of States under Article V of the U.S. Constitution to propose amendments to limit federal power.


Position Overview:

Convention of States is looking for a volunteer, remote, Social Media Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis (15-20 hours per week). As a Social Media Specialist at Convention of States, you will be a critical part of our social media team, engaging with our audience and effectively promoting our message. This role is pivotal in enhancing our online presence and reaching a broader audience.


Responsibilities:

  • Communication: Collaborate across the communications shop with graphic designers, videographers, content writers, or other team members as needed. 
  • Content Creation: Craft compelling and relevant content for COS's social media channels, including copy, captions, and posts designed to resonate with our target audience.
  • Call to Action (CTA): Create persuasive CTAs with links to encourage user engagement. Focus on key CTAs such as donations, petitions, email, merchandise, legislation, and grassroots recruitment.
  • Platform Management: Manage and maintain our presence on social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Original Content: Develop original content, such as graphics, images, videos, and reels, to effectively convey COS's message. 
  • SEO Strategy: Ensure original content aligns with CTAs and drives traffic to the COS website.
  • Content Calendar: Coordinate with the Communications Department to create and maintain a content calendar. Ensure that posts align with COS's messaging, goals, and key events or initiatives.
  • Breaking News: Stay informed about current events, particularly those related to COS's core messages, such as term limits and fiscal responsibility. Write and share timely content or responses to breaking news to keep the audience informed.
  • Support Grassroots: Provide social media training and support to grassroot activists, and state teams. 
Requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and content management.
  • Familiarity with creating reels for social media
  • Creativity and an eye for design to create compelling visuals.
  • Up-to-date with current events and ability to respond quickly.
  • Knowledge of SEO strategy and website optimization.
