Description
The English teacher must be able to communicate effectively through a relational approach, encouraging students to take risks in learning and to demonstrate learning in innovative ways. The English teacher is a part of the secondary faculty and reports to the secondary principal. All members of the faculty are expected to contribute to chapel and other spiritual development activities and other duties as assigned
Major Responsibilities:
- Prepare appropriate weekly lesson plans, including instructional objectives, learning activities, and assessments integrated with Biblical foundations
- Utilize appropriate educational technology
- Create and evaluate appropriate instructional and assessment methods to measure student learning
- Maintain appropriate pacing in accordance with the Curriculum guide
- Advanced Placement courses may be assigned to this position, must be able to complete AP training as assigned
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with all members of the English department and other faculty
- Demonstrate the maturity to inspire student learning and understanding of the age group
- Maintain a positive classroom environment, conducive to learning, yet open to questioning and participation
- Effectively communicate and partner with parents in the educational and spiritual development of students
- Support school initiatives and show support for student interests outside of the school day
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English or a related content area
- Possess or be qualified to apply for a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Florida Department of Education
- Willingness to teach and/or be trained to teach Advanced Placement courses
- Exhibit a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle.
- Preference will be given to applicants who are members of a congregation of the churches of Christ.
- All applicants must be members of a local church and able to sign and abide by the MDCA statement of faith in order to be considered
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships
- Have experience using classroom technology, electronic resources, programs, and platforms
- Ability to accept direction and professional development Ability to exercise good judgment
- Must submit to a background check
