Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands council is the largest organization serving girls in South Carolina. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.  If you love the outdoors and love kids, a position at Camp WaBak—our 130-acre overnight camp in the northwestern area of Greenville County—might be perfect for you. Our camp staff supervise, and guide girls aged 1st-12th grade as they participate in a wide variety of camp programming including swimming, boating, archery, hiking, tent camping, arts and crafts, cookouts, campfires, team building, and more!

POSITION SUMMARY

Lead Tripping Counselors will supervise a unit (small, similarly aged group) of girls enrolled in a day or overnight tripping program. This position reports to the Assistant Director and facilitates off-site day and overnight trips. The Lead Tripping Counselor will gather equipment, plan routes, update a trip binder for each session, train girls and staff in the necessary skills for each trip, lead and supervise off-site trips, direct, and supervise the secondary tripping counselor, and manage emergency communications during trips. Lead Counselors will supervise a general counselor in the same unit providing guidance, support, and advice when necessary.

While at camp, our Lead Counselors will be role models for our campers – showing enthusiasm, kindness, and creativity. Along with another counselor, you will facilitate archery sessions, create one-of-a-kind tie dye, rock a dance party, and roast tasty s’mores! You can expect to spend your summer days hiking camp, outside playing games on the field, and trying something new each day.
