Description
J.J. Nichting is seeking a skilled and reliable Diesel Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered agricultural equipment. This role supports farmers and operations by ensuring machinery is safe, efficient, and ready during critical planting and harvest seasons.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related systems on agricultural equipment
- Service tractors, combines, harvesters, sprayers, loaders, and irrigation engines
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and drivetrain systems
- Use diagnostic tools and computerized engine software
- Maintain accurate service records and follow safety procedures
- Communicate repair needs and timelines with customers and supervisors
- Work extended hours during peak agricultural seasons as needed

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3 years of work experience or 2 year diesel degree plus 2 years of experience
- Technical training in diesel technology, agricultural mechanics, or heavy equipment preferred
- Previous experience with agricultural or heavy equipment strongly preferred
- Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus)
Working Conditions:

- Workshop setting.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Repetitive bending and/or kneeling.
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal travel to and from job sites.
