Davenergy Solutions is an ACG-Certified Building Commissioning Firm providing engineering, commissioning, construction management, and facility support services to public and private sector owners.
Founded in 2009, Davenergy is an SBA-verified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business headquartered in San Diego, California, and Raleigh, North Carolina, with professionals located across the United States. We have extensive experience supporting federal clients, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, Army, Air Force, Navy, and other public and private organizations.
We are seeking a full-time Construction Manager to support projects at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida. This is an opportunity to work on meaningful healthcare construction projects in an active VA medical campus environment.
This position will serve as an Owner’s Representative supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs during construction. The ideal candidate is a practical, field-focused construction professional with experience in building and mechanical systems, quality assurance, or construction closeout.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will support the VA project team as an Owner’s Representative during ongoing construction, closeout, and turnover activities on an active medical campus.
Perform field inspections and observe contractor work for compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable codes.
Document construction progress, site conditions, manpower, deficiencies, photographs, and events that may affect schedule, cost, quality, or safety.
Review contractor submittals, RFIs, testing reports, inspection documentation, payment applications, cost proposals, and change order support materials.
Assist with punch lists, deficiency tracking, corrective actions, final inspections, commissioning, turnover, and closeout documentation.
Coordinate with VA staff, contractors, engineers, schedulers, inspectors, commissioning agents, and other project stakeholders as required.
Provide practical field input to the VA Senior Resident Engineer and project scheduler regarding progress, constraints, risks, and upcoming work activities.
What We’re Looking For
Successful candidates should have at least 5 years of construction experience, preferably in healthcare, federal, institutional, or complex renovation projects.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: construction oversight, quality assurance, quality control, licensed trade practice, commissioning support, engineering, or Owner’s Representative support.
Good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
An equivalent combination of education, professional licensure, and demonstrated construction experience will also be considered.
Why This Role Matters
We take the work seriously, but we do not believe work has to be miserable. The work can be challenging, but it is also meaningful. On a VA campus, you see the people served by the project every day, and the improvements you help deliver will support Veterans and patient care long after construction is complete.
Our team values clear communication, practical problem-solving, follow-through, and a sense of humor. This role is a good fit for someone who brings a practical, level-headed approach, communicates clearly, keeps good records, and helps the team work through issues. You will not be expected to have every answer, but you should be comfortable asking good questions and following through.
Physical Requirements:
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use
of construction personnel hoist, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. While performing
the duties of this position, the associate regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the associate is
exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions
and risk of electrical shock. Occasional lifting of equipment between 10-25 lbs. required.
