The Blow Mold Technical Manager is a key member of the Plant Management team. This is a hands-on, working management position. The key responsibilities include efficient operation of all Blow Mold equipment, efficient execution of Blow Mold related projects, efficient training of the Blow Mold Manager and operators on operational aspects of the Blow Mold, utilize skills to reduce shrink of both packaging and finished product, and setting up systems that delivers a consistent quality bottle every time. Key metrics are machine utilization, machine uptime, labor hour reduction, and delivering a consistent quality bottle.
Other responsibility includes achieving blow molding line standard rates, labor efficiencies, product quality, overall Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/Housekeeping) and employee safety. Additional accountability for shift’s overall preparation to run, coordinating of line mechanical set- ups, product supply from compounding, material supply from leads and warehousing that meets scheduled line start-up.
- Disassembles/Reassembles Blow Molding machinery and auxiliary or downstream equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Repairs and maintains the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Observes and tests the operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
- Operates newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Adjusting heats, parison adjustments, air pressure adjustments, machinal adjustments to the molds, cooling adjustments/dwell time, consistent resin flow so the container will within the customer requirements.
- Secondary responsible for supervising activities of blow molding lines to achieve rates that meet or exceed standards (including efficient changeovers). Blow Mold Manager will have primary people management responsibility; however, this will fall on the Technical Manager in the Blow Mold Manager’s absence.
- Responsible for the training and performance management of team members to ensure that each line is staffed with qualified and motivated individuals.
- Ensure the identification of product quality problems and implementation of corrective actions.
- Utilize theory of constraints or lean manufacturing techniques to evaluate and manage counts, machine speeds, scrap and downtime to drive reliability to desired levels.
- Record and report accurate counts, machine speeds, scrap counts, line down time, and other data as directed by the Plant Manager and/ or Blow Mold Manager.
- Ensure adequate supply of materials.
- Enforce all GMP’s, Safety and Environmental regulations as well as company policies.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of paperwork.
- Able to meet deadlines to deliver production requirements (flexible work schedule)

- High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 10 years Blow Molding Machinery Maintenance and operation.
- 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment (beverage, food, plastic)
- Excellent mathematical skills for performing basic calculations related to measurements and materials.
- Must be able to pass all medical exams, drug, and background checks (including criminal).
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Good problem-solving skills, strong leadership abilities
- Competent computer skills in the use of Excel (intermediate user i.e., spreadsheet set up, basic formulas, labeling sorting data, filtering through data, pivot tables) and Microsoft Word
- Awareness of Industrial Safety Issues
- Must be able to demonstrate clear understanding and utilization of Lean Manufacturing Principles, and Continuous Improvement Projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills
- Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner
- Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving is required.

- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
