We are looking for a Lumber Sales Manager to build and grow lumber sales relationships while making Carbon Smart Wood™ a known quantity in the industry. If you have deep wood experience, a robust network in the wood products world to be able to hit the ground running, and experience in evaluating lumber quality, this could be the spot for you. This is not your average lumber sales role at a run of the mill lumber company. You will be part of a passionate team that is actively building a new industry around fallen material. 


Our team operates nationally, with a headquarters in Baltimore, MD. This role is open to hybrid and remote applicants with a preference for candidates living in Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC area, Upper Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, and Connecticut. 


What You’ll Do

We are at a critical stage of growth. After years of developing the technology and supply network, we are ready to launch Carbon Smart Wood™ on a national scale. We need someone with deep wood experience to support bringing this hyper-sustainable material to market.  

Sell Carbon Smart Wood™ (80%)

  • Work with Sales and Supply teams to identify, prospect, and close key buyers in product categories that have a high likelihood of adopting Carbon Smart Wood™
  • Own the outreach, relationship building, and sales process for new accounts and ongoing account relationships
  • Collect & share market and competitive intelligence to inform strategy 
  • Grow Cambium’s national reach by attending relevant trade shows, conferences…etc. 
  • Use Hubspot and Zoom Info to track data and account activity 
  • Travel will be required 

Sales Operations (20%)

  • Leverage industry experience to level up Cambium operations 
  • Improve customer acquisition and sales process to enable higher conversion from target to client 
  • Work with Supply team to expand supply capacity where appropriate
  • Learn the differences between the salvaged lumber vs traditional lumber industries and become familiar with the value proposition of Carbon Smart Wood™
  • Understand and be able to sell various grades and end products of Carbon Smart Wood™ to meet aesthetic and performance needs of clients 

About You: Required

  • 5-10 years of sales experience in the lumber and wood products industry. This could be anything from  sourcing/procurement to sales to supply chain
  • Experience and understanding of the lumber, indoor/outdoor furniture, millwork, plywood, or CLT industries

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with carbon and impact metrics and knowledge of embodied carbon issues within the furniture and built environment industries is an added benefit
  • Large network in the wood products world to expose Carbon Smart Wood™ to
  • Understanding of lumber supply operations and quality assurance 
  • Forestry or traditional timber sourcing 

The Details

This role will report to: VP of Sales

When: We’re looking to fill this role immediately

Where: Baltimore, Upper Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, and Connecticut preferred

Salary Range: $60,000 to $90,000, or commensurate based on experience.  

Commission: Generous commission structure with high upside potential
