Optikos Corporation is seeking a motivated Field Support Engineer to install and maintain our optical metrology product lines at customer locations worldwide, and provide on-site and remote customer training and support. Our products are designed to solve complex optical metrology problems for customers across many different industries, and we specialize in custom metrology systems. This means that supporting our product customers requires attention to detail, curiosity, and creative problem solving, and every day will be different in this role. Job Functions:

At Optikos, a large part of our success is our reputation for supporting our customers where they need it – over the phone, in their labs, at their side.  As a Field Support Engineer at Optikos, you will travel to global customer locations to:

  • Install and calibrate Optikos metrology products
  • Implement software/hardware upgrades on previously installed Optikos metrology products
  • Provide on-site training for new software or hardware installations
  • Perform on-site demonstrations of our product capabilities for potential customers
  • Troubleshoot optical, mechanical, electrical and software issues when needed
  • Represent Optikos in a professional manner

When not traveling, the Field Support Engineer will be a contributing member of our in-house Product Support department, where your responsibilities will include:

  • Tracking and organizing field support equipment
  • Generating documentation and trip reports for completed service visits and installations
  • Managing assigned service cases and providing remote assistance to customers
  • Managing assigned product upgrade projects for schedule and cost
  • Providing feedback and support to the product development team for product improvements
  • Assisting in the development of quotes for service and maintenance agreements and upgrades to existing systems
  • Contributing content to product documentation, like training guides and videos, manuals, FAQs, etc.
  • Engaging with product engineering team for training and hands on opportunities to become a power user of Optikos products
Requirements
  • Associates degree or higher in engineering or sciences (electrical/optical engineering or physics preferred)
  • Must have and maintain a US driver’s license and a good driving record
  • 3+ years’ experience of hands on experience in a technical field. Experience with optical metrology equipment (autocollimators, interferometers,  spectrometers, etc.) preferred.
  • Previous successful experience in a customer facing role (does not need to be technical)
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and good judgment in new situations
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to quickly grasp and utilize technical concepts.
  • Ability to manage priorities and optimally work in a fast paced, challenging environment with dead-lines
  • Candidate must be willing/able to travel internationally – up to 30%
