Your Future Role:

This role is responsible for helping the CFO oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a complicated family business with three primary revenue streams (retail, services & farming).  As the assistant controller you will participate in not only the financial controls & operations of the business but also the strategic integration and analysis of the business. This position is a great opportunity to learn the accounting intricacies of multiple businesses and grow your career.  Within a short time you will have an in depth understanding of an organization that operates in 4 separate software platforms (ERP's) best suited for each business entity.

 
Your Specific Job Responsibilities:

· Upholds Moana Nursery's strict safety policies

– Provides leadership and oversight through audits of accounts payables.

– Provides timely and accurate financial and inventory reports.

– Processes, posts, and records payroll.

– Ensures compliance with GAAP, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 

– Maintains and improves accounting policies, procedures, and systems.

– Provides excellent and professional service to customers in person and on the phone. All communication is professional, client-  driven, and helpful.

– Performs related duties as required or directed by management.

– Assists others as requested or assigned.

Maintains a safe and clean work environment. 

Physical Requirements & Activity:

· Applicant must be able to navigate daily up & down staircase

· Be able to sit for long periods of time

· Be able to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion

Expertise & Experience Requirements:

· High School or equivalent degree; college business courses a plus

· Minimum 4 years of Accounting and General Ledger experience

· Preferred: Advanced proficiency in Accounts Payable 

· Strong verbal and written communications

· Applicant must be 10-key proficient

· Applicant must be able to adhere to required data entry accuracy

· Payroll processing experience and applicant must be able to maintain confidentiality required in Payroll functions

·  Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).

· Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements.

· Proven experience in audits and preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

· Skilled in month-end closing procedures.

· Ability to draft and interpret checklists, reports, and professional correspondence; capable of understanding complex instructions and documentation.

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed computations accurately and efficiently; proficient in basic arithmetic operations across various units of measure.

· Capacity to apply practical reasoning to execute instructions delivered in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; adept at resolving issues involving multiple variables within standardized frameworks 

Nice To Have Skills or Experiences:

· Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting

· Financial inventory experience

· Knowledge of horticulture or landscape accounting

· Works well under pressure and is able to prioritize and multi-task

· Experience with any of the following software: Paylocity, Epicor Eagle, Asset, or SBI Grower 

Your Future Work Schedule:

Our administrative office operates Monday - Friday. This position requires attendance from 8:00 am to 5 pm with occasional weekend work. The annual payroll cycle will dictate monthly schedules.
