Archery/Ropes Supervisor - Camp Timberlake

Job Summary 


The Archery and Ropes Supervisor further the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Timberlake Day Camp programming. Archery and Ropes Staff facilitate and supervise Archery and Ropes Programming and Archery and Ropes Staff while providing safe, fun, and educational experiences for campers in accordance with GSUSA policies and procedures, American Camp Association procedures, and Texas Department of Health requirements. 

Requirements


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Prepare, deliver, and supervise programs in the assigned activity areas.
  2. Ensure and lead appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff. 
  3. Participate in staff training and meetings. 
  4. Conduct inventory of supplies and submit orders to Assistant Camp Director when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies so that programming is never delayed for campers.
  5. Become familiar with all camp programs and offer suggestions in the assigned activity area guidelines.
  6. Ensure program area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines.
  7. Maintain program equipment on ropes course and archery field and supplies to keep in accordance with state standards and program licensing (ACCT). 
  8. Ensure program areas are safe and free of hazards and debris.
  9. Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those as assigned.
  10. Maintain a positive attitude when working with campers and staff.
  11. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to ACD.
  12. Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of summer camping season.
  13. Set a good example to campers and staff regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
  14. Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
  15. Assures campers and staff are properly always supervised.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 years of age.  
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (provided by GSTOP). 
  • Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor. 
  • Ropes Certification and Archery Certification or willing to become so (provided by GSTOP). 
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.

  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment including exposure to environmental allergens including dust, mold, pollen, live birds, insects, and other animals.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and function work duties in summer heat.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES 

  • Required valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (will be provided if needed).
