Job Summary 


To provide a safe and effective aquatic program by directly supervising campers and participants at the pool, understands and responds to protocols and emergency procedures, and provides an exceptional camp experience to all. To enrich the campers experience through the development and delivery of archery activities appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities while maintaining safety. Provide safe, fun, and educational experiences for campers in accordance with GSUSA policies and procedures, American Camp Association (ACA) procedures, and Texas Department of Health requirements. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and delivery of programs in the assigned activity area. 
  • Current Lifeguard Certification and Archery Certification, or ability to obtain one (provided by GSTOP).  
  • Establish and follow appropriate health and safety routines for campers and staff. 
  • Prepare, participate, and help lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to the pool and archery.  
  • Participate in staff training and meetings. 
  • Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies.  
  • Become familiar with the camp program and offer suggestions at the pool and archery program guidelines.  
  • Maintain area cleanliness according to the Texas Department of Health and GSTOP guidelines. 
  • Give instruction to campers and staff in archery skills, safety and deliver progressive archery activities. 
  • Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of summer camping season. 
  • Create and maintain staff schedules and make sure all staff are following through with their job descriptions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 18 years of age.  
  • Experience working with children, peers, and having a supervisor. 
  • Activity area appropriate Certifications (Lifeguard, Archery) or ability to obtain one (provided by GSTOP).  
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting.

  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

  • Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, walk long distances and on uneven terrain, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment including exposure to environmental allergens including dust, mold, pollen, live birds, insects, and other animals.  
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and function work duties in summer heat. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Required valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (will be provided if needed). 
  • Activity area appropriate Certifications (Lifeguard, Archery) or ability to obtain one (provided by GSTOP). 


Weekly Rate: $460.00
