JOB SUMMARY 


Unit Leaders further the mission of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) through Stevens Ranch Resident Camp programming. Unit Leaders ensure the physical, mental, and emotional safety of campers, help facilitate camp programs and community building within the camper group and the entire camp. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Ensure work areas and activities are safe and meet the requirements of the American Camp Association (ACA), Texas State Health Department, and GSTOP. 
  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout camp to meet the intended camper outcomes. 
  • Promote and support the Girl Scout program philosophies of the GSUSA and GSTOP. 
  • Responsible for maintaining a high standard of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. 
  • Responsible for providing unit information reports, data, and daily logs to the Assistant Camp Director and/or Business Manager. 
  • Responsible for planning, leading, and participating in camper activities. 
  • Responsible for maintaining effective working relationships with staff and creating harmonious relationships with campers, parents, and staff. 
  • Responsible for observing camper behavior, assessing its appropriateness, enforcing appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and applying appropriate behavior-management techniques. 
  • Responsible for check in and check out procedures and other assigned duties and responsibilities. 
  • Ensure the safety of all campers during their stay at Stevens Ranch by following all policies, procedures, and protocols. 
  • Ensures that unit schedules and activities are implemented and adhered to. 
  • Ensures that a safe and pleasant atmosphere is maintained in the assigned unit. 
  • Provide quality care that resolves concerns by offering creative solutions in a timely manner. 
  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. 
  • Promote Girl Scouting in a positive manner to the public and co-workers. 
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum 18 years of age.  
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (provided by GSTOP). 
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting. 
  • Membership in Girl Scout organization. 
  • Must be willing to work with all persons without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability. 
  • Experience and/or education in general Outdoor Education or Girl Scouts. 
  • Ability to coordinate on-site business activities. 
  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp community.  
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and produce results. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
  • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state were employee works/resides, with an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation. 
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions, walk long distances and on uneven terrain, and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 
  • Ability and willingness to work in an environment including exposure to environmental allergens including dust, mold, pollen, live birds, insects, and other animals.  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (provided if not already current).


Weekly Rate: $460.00
