SITE SUPERINTENDENT
Description

This position is a full-time position that will support the Construction department, working primarily on job sites. The Project Superintendent is responsible for supervising and completing project fieldwork through direct site supervision of subcontractors, regular site visits, and inspections. The fieldwork is expected to be completed in accordance with the project specs/drawings and within the established project schedule. The Project Superintendent will ensure the site is clean and orderly and work is being performed in safe and environmentally friendly manner.


Responsibilities:


PreConstruction

  • Review and have the highest-level understanding of your project’s:
  •    Scope (design documents, specifications)
  •    Schedule/execution plan
  •    Site conditions

Construction / Project Execution

  • Ensure the site is clean, orderly and hazard free
  • Communicate any errors or discrepancies on project design documents to the Formcraft PM (RFIs)
  • Identify & coordinate with Formcraft PM on issuance and resolution of Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Ensure communication, minimum of once daily, of the project status with Formcraft PM
  • Monitor and direct project field progress against established project schedule
  • Ensure completion of field work is in compliance with design documents and applicable codes
  • Ensure onsite project design documents are the latest revision and up to date with field redlines
  • Schedule and confirm work dates with subcontractors in compliance and support of project completion schedule
  • Monitor quality of work through frequent site walkdowns
  • Monitor subcontractor field staffing levels, request adjustments as needed
  • Document work quality issues and proactively resolve with subcontractors
  • Conduct a weekly site subcontractor meeting as required
  • Resolve field scope conflicts with subcontractors
  • Coordinate delivery, receipt, and inspection of material /equipment to the site
  • Be aware of and coordinate site inspections by 3rd parties (local authorities having jurisdiction, code inspections, fire marshal, etc))
  • Coordinate required site inspections and/or testing by subs or vendors
  • Maintain and document a project punchlist throughout entire project

Safety

  • Ensure the site is clean, orderly and hazard free
  • Monitor site conditions and subcontractor work practices for compliance to safety standards
  • Monitor, identify and communicate any site hazards to subcontractors and Formcraft PM
  • Implement standard Formcraft site safety practices which includes documented site orientation for subs, Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) as required, presence of on-site safety equipment (First Aid, signage, etc)
  • Notify Formcraft PM and/or Department Manager regarding all safety incidents including near misses
  • Assist Formcraft PM with incident investigations and document (including near misses)

Client Management

  • Establish & maintain a respectful and professional customer relationship at all times
  • Working with Formcraft PM, respond to and resolve customer concerns in a timely manner 

Change Management

  • Communicate customer or subcontractor field change requests to the Formcraft PM in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with Formcraft PM to define scope, estimated costs and schedule impacts on customer and subcontractor Change Requests 
  • Coordinate with Formcraft PM to ensure documented customer approval is received for Change Requests PRIOR to field implementation

Project Closeout

  • Coordinate with subcontractors the timely closeout of punchlist items
  • Coordinate with Formcraft PM on project close-out (final invoicing, close-out documentation)
  • Assist the Formcraft PM on the compilation, organization, and delivery of close-out documents
Requirements

Qualifications

  • Education- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, preferred. Other relevant or equivalent education and/or job experience will be considered as well.
  • Experience- 10 - 15+ Years in Construction required
  • Software Skills- proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word & Excel required; knowledge/experience with project management software (i.e. Procore, Building Connected, Spectrum, Viewpoint, Etc.) preferred
  • Certifications- OSHA 30 Hour and CPR First Aid Certification, or willingness to complete both

Physical Requirements

This position requires the employee to be able to:

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 100 lbs 
  • Sitting for hours at a desk or in meetings with occasional standing and walking 
  • Occasionally work long hours, nights, or weekends
  • Use safety equipment on a construction site 
  • Ability to travel within the US is a plus
  • Follow OSHA regulations and company policies with care and professionalism
  • Work in a construction environment, involving loud noises, dirty environments, and standard construction hazards
  • Operate a motor vehicle, and have possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Participate in site surveys and any walking / climbing of ladders required to complete surveys in their entirety
