Compensation (based on experience): $200,000- $222,000
Provides primary medical care services to pediatric and adult patients and OB/GYN patients in both the ambulatory and in-patient setting using primary care concepts, emphasizing prevention of illness and the promotion of health lifestyles. Participates in the program planning of health activities within the Health Center and in the community as requested. Serves as core faculty member to Rush-Esperanza family medicine residency program.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages ambulatory Family Medicine primary care medical practice by eliciting patient histories, performing physical examinations, providing accurate clinical diagnoses, prescribing evidence-based and cost-effective treatments and providing patient education.
- Adheres to Esperanza Health Center’s Productivity Standard for Physicians of an average of at least 2.7 patient visits per hour of ambulatory time worked.
- Maintains and promotes patient satisfaction through acknowledgement that environmental, social and cultural factors influence one’s health.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities of the health center including complete, legible and accurate chart documentation, Peer Review chart audits and reviews, and designated projects.
- Practices evidence-based, cost-effective primary care in a team-based model.
- Makes appropriate diagnoses and prescribes appropriate prescriptions and referrals consistent with Esperanza Health Center’s medical practice guidelines.
- Prepares, implements and documents age specific preventative health schedules for pediatric and adult and OB/GYN patients.
- Builds and maintains a Family Medicine medical practice with follow-up of return appointments and referrals, in-patient management and other methods that assure continuity of care.
- Maintains clinical competency through regular Continuing Medical Education and provides documentation of such to Esperanza Health Center’s Administration.
- Maintains liaison with any Partner Hospitals’ medical staff and ambulatory care departments through obtaining and maintaining Hospital Privileges, attendance at department and section meetings, and attending physician teaching duties.
- Takes call for Esperanza Health Center patients as assigned by the Medical Director.
- Plays a role in educating and training medical and healthcare professionals, as needed, and accepts and implements teaching assignments of Health Center staff as assigned by the Medical Director and the Program Director of the Rush Esperanza Family Medicine Residency.
- Supervises residents in the clinical setting.
- Serves as an advisor to 2-4 residents (as assigned)
- Oversees one or more core curriculum areas, as assigned by the Program Director
- Provides regular, fair, and useful summative and formative evaluation of residents and reports on their progress.
- Participates in program and curriculum quality improvement (i.e, PEC)
- Serves as a member of program, Rush University, Rush Medical College, or other identified professional committees that advance the needs of the program.
- Collaborates with other core and ancillary faculty and the program director to ensure a comprehensive didactic program.
- Centers personal wellness and the wellness of residents in residency activities and clinical practice
- Completes quality improvement and scholarly activity to meet accreditation requirements, to advance the science of family medicine, and to serve as a role model for residents.
- Joins the faculty of the Rush University Department of Family Medicine and attends faculty and clinical meetings as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical School
- Current IL State License, Controlled Substance License, and DEA Registration
- Bilingual English/Spanish, required.
