Pay Range: $15 - $17/hr


POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is a fantastic entry-level position into animal health! No prior animal health experience is necessary, but our goal is to develop Veterinary Assistants into Veterinary Technicians. Applicants must have open availability (including Saturdays), excellent interpersonal skills, and evidence of good work history and work ethic.


Veterinary Assistants help veterinary technicians in carrying out the technician’s duties, while providing superior patient care and excellent customer service and client satisfaction. They are also primarily responsible for hospital cleanliness and sanitation. This position is an excellent opportunity for any individual who is seeking to learn and grow into a position working in an animal health or welfare environment. Veterinary Assistants report to the Practice Manager.

Requirements

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Assist in the performance of a variety of technical and client education duties that facilitate the work of the veterinarian(s) and veterinary technician(s):

· Preparation of fecal, blood/cytology, and urine samples

· Equipment and instrument maintenance

· Proper and humane animal handling and restraint technique

· Hospital cleanliness and sanitation including but not limited to laundry, cleaning kennels, taking out trash, sweeping and mopping, etc.

Ø Answering phones, scheduling appointments, and checking patients in and out as needed in the absence of the dedicated Client Service Representative


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician(s), Practice Manager, or DVMs


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ø Must be 16 years of age or older We are unable to work around school schedules

Ø No previous experience working in a clinical/hospital setting is required, as we are willing to provide training to the right individual

Ø Shifts are generally full-day and so full-day availability is required, even for Part Time.

Ø Proven efficiency and time-management skills, as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while still having a keen attention to detail

Ø Reliable and punctual

Ø Proven customer service and client communication, including ensuring client satisfaction at all times
