A Steward assists in keeping a restaurant, bar, or lounge clean and sanitary, assists in cleaning dishes, and tends to customers' needs. The Steward may also perform basic administrative tasks, such as answering phones, taking reservations, and giving out basic information.
The ideal candidate believes in showing up on time for work, providing other employees with assistance in the kitchen as needed and following all sanitary and health-related protocols. Due to the nature of our business, this position is required to work weekends and holidays.
The day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clearing tables and preparing them for the next customers; placing seasonal decorations, candles, and table cloths.
- Welcoming customers, seating them, serving them water or refilling their glasses, and delivering beverages from the Bartender.
- Keeping menus clean and presenting them to customers.
- Stocking waitstaff serving stations with napkins, utensils, trays, and condiments, and assisting the wait staff with all aspects of service.
- Assisting in cleaning and opening or closing tasks.
- Scraping food from dirty dishes, pots, pans, plates, flatware, and glasses, washing dirty dishes, and putting them away.
- Assisting with sweeping, mopping, and polishing the restaurant, bar, kitchen, and equipment.
- Transporting used linen to or from the laundry or housekeeping section.
- Assisting with unloading and storing stock.
- Operating the industrial dishwasher.
- Washing glassware and other implements by hand when necessary.
- Emptying and cleaning all trash receptacles.
- Clean iced tea, coffee and milkshake machines daily.
- Rotate dishes to reduce wear and tear on resources.
- Clean dish storage.
- Follow sanitation policies at all times
- Provide assistance to Prep Cook and other kitchen staff as needed, especially during peak times.
- Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
- Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to appropriate party.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
