Job Description 


Summary/objective

Do you want to play an integral role in a dynamic organization? We are looking to add a Maintenance Assistant to help support our team. The right candidate will enjoy learning new tasks and taking on a variety of responsibilities while working in an up-beat, nonprofit environment.


Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Assistant keeps assigned areas, such as office, classrooms, hallways and common areas of our campus in clean and orderly condition. They will work successfully with fellow employees and others to help supporting the broad array of services provided to students, parents, instructional and support employees. 


Essential functions

· Maintain a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.

· Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean

· Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs.

· Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff. Make minor building repairs as needed

· Assist in setting up facilities for special events 

· Assists with opening and closing campus facilities each day 

· Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, and climbing 

· Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures 

· Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable

Work environment: 

This position is located in the central office of our campus. You will be in the midst of activity and energy. This position is: 

· A good fit for applicants with gaps in their resume, or who have been out of the workforce for the past 6 months or more

· A good job for someone just entering the workforce or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education


Schedule: 

Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm(flexible)

The Maintenance Assistant must be able to prioritize, organize and communicate with all levels of the organization. They should be able to maintain confidentiality, be a critical thinker, as well as be concise and detail oriented. You must have a positive demeanor, great customer service skills.

Requirements

Required education and experience

  • High School or Equivalent 
  • Six month previous custodial/housekeeping experience 
  • Must be able to speak and understand basic English 
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to operate custodial and related equipment

Physical Demands: · Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs 20 feet· Must be able to stand unassisted for at least one hour · Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and health lifting and carrying · Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders
