Director, Global Recycling Standards Organization
Description

Under the direction of the Global Recycling Standards Organization (GRSO) Board of Directors, the Director of the Global Recycling Standards Organization (GRSO) will direct the recycling industry’s premier Quality Environmental Health and Safety (QEH&S) Management System known as RIOS™ (Recycling Industry Operating Standard) and other programs as directed by the Board. The Director is responsible for overseeing operations, finances, programs, staff, and volunteers. The Director will drive strategic planning, recruitment, and stakeholder relationships to achieve the organization’s mission and goals. The Director for this position must be a confident, action-oriented, and aggressive communicator willing to manage the program’s advocacy, marketing, outreach, and education efforts. The Director is also responsible for managing the membership manager as well as the administration of RIOS’ licensees, managing invoices, license agreements, tracking membership/certification, website, social media, etc.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Planning, organizing, and directing the organization’s operations and program
  • Developing and implementing consistent procedures, and operational reporting/metrics
  • Overseeing and reporting on the organization’s results for the board of directors
  • Collaborate with the board of directors, develop strategic plans, and represent the organization to the public for recruiting purposes
  • Direct the program’s advocacy, marketing, outreach, and education efforts.
  • Provide leadership to and manage the efforts of staff to ensure appropriate collaboration with ISRI for shared services and support, and with other industry alliances for co-marketing and program initiatives
  • Oversee administration of RIOS’ licensees, managing invoices, license agreements, tracking membership/certification, etc. 
  • Ensure ongoing alignment of the RIOS accreditation with ANAB, manage relationships with Certifying Bodies, and support recruitment and training of auditors and implementation consultants.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and engaging members for the organization’s success
  • Experience in marketing and sales, and developing programs to highlight value propositions
  • Experience with a membership organization and engaging with an independent board of directors
  • Strong knowledge of financials and how to build financial forecasting documents for the board of directors
  • Experience in Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Standards or management systems
  • Experience in the recycling industry is a plus
  • Work experience as a Non-Profit Director or similar role preferred by not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable years in the position
  • MBA preferred but not required
