Description

Jorgensen is currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Construction and Materials Testing Technician to join our team in our Jackson, Pinedale, or Kemmerer, WY locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction materials testing and inspection field. You would be supporting our teams on construction, transportation, and surveying projects by performing periodic field inspections of discrete portions of projects prior, during, and post construction to determine compliance with approved plans and specifications. Perform quality control/quality assurance testing of materials for projects, both internal and external to firm, to verify compliance with the plans and specifications. Other responsibilities include: assist in maintaining the materials testing laboratory, responsible for monitoring lab equipment and supplies, reporting on lab usage. Assist in maintaining uniform field and laboratory testing procedures; occasionally assist in field surveying.

  • Performs field and laboratory testing of asphalt, soil, aggregate, concrete, and material testing primarily.
  • Operate construction materials laboratory testing equipment.
  • Collect samples of materials for testing, perform analysis and/or calculations to check accuracy of test data.
  • Prepare detailed reports on test results and inspection findings, input for report preparation and submittal to clients.
  • Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration as needed.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards and best practices for materials testing and inspection.
  • Attend meetings and provide input on materials testing and quality control issues.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years construction coordination/management experience
  • Ability to read & interpret specifications and blueprints. 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record test results and inspection findings. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds - Will routinely lift and carry materials and equipment.
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Must pass background check, and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.


Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI and Radiation Safety Certification
  • Beginning to intermediate level computer skills in Windows-based applications
  • Associate degree in engineering technology or construction management
  • Knowledge of AASHTO Resource and CCRL accreditation
  • ACI Strength Testing Technician
  • EbTT- Embankment
  • AsTT Asphalt
  • AgTT- Aggregate


Working Environment

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment and outdoors, exposed to all weather elements. Outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land use developments, construction sites, or public works in outside weather conditions. May occasionally work in excavations or traffic and be occasionally exposed to wet conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
