Casual positions are required to work 1-2 shifts per two week pay period.
This position is responsible for providing quality diagnostic imaging and patient care services. Uses care in accurately documenting all pertinent information on necessary forms and in the EMR. Responsible for efficient and effective operation of the daily activities within Radiology as directed. Assists lead technologists with execution of the daily operation of the Diagnostic Imaging department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform imaging procedures at a technical level requiring minimal supervision.
- Assist radiologist as necessary
- Work with lead technologists to proactively identify and solve problems
2. Ensure imaging quality for assigned area.
- Uphold the highest standard of image quality and patient safety
- Seek to expand knowledge by attending/completing educational opportunities
3. Employ several computer systems to maintain patient records and orders.
- Maintain proficiency in RIS and EMR
- Serve as super-user for specific equipment as directed by department leadership
4. Identify and report equipment problems.
- Generate work orders for equipment repairs and keep current on work order status as necessary
- Maintain working relationship with appropriate service engineer and/or physicist
5. Assists the lead to keep studies current.
- Work with lead to ensure exam protocols align with radiologist requirements and current practice standards
- Keep lead technologists and director informed about orders and processes to maximize efficiency
6. Assist with day to day operations.
- Remain informed and flexible with regards to work schedule
- Complete QA/QC as directed for modality accreditation process (if applicable)
- Make recommendations on areas of improvement
- Regularly attend department meetings and read department email
- Identify budgetary needs for area of responsibility
- Maintain department
- Assist with scheduling patients as directed
7. Perform other duties as necessary or required by assignment.
- Accept responsibility for students or prospective students placed in imaging department
- Take time to share experience and knowledge with future healthcare professionals
- Serve as a model professional
Education & Licensure:
- Registered by American Registry of Radiological Technologists (R.T. ARRT)
- Current WI Radiographer license
- CPR Certification completed internally
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic radiographic procedures required
- Able to contribute to small group projects
- Work under general directions with little supervision
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions stated in medical and radiologic terms
- Use time efficiently maintaining department cleanliness and order
- Mechanical abilities helpful
