STATUS:  Non-Exempt, salaried, full-time

LOCATION:  Chicago, Illinois, (hybrid/remote schedule) 

SALARY RANGE: $44,770 - $59,400 (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary:

The HMIS Data Quality Coordinator is a key member of the HMIS team. The team works with the community to refine the structure of the HMIS system, creates reports, conducts in-person training and provides technical assistance for users across the Chicago Continuum of Care (CoC). The HMIS Data Quality Coordinator ensures that the data in the HMIS is evaluated for quality regularly, identifies areas to be addressed, and recommends and implements processes, procedures, and programs to improve the HMIS data quality. 


Position responsibilities and work volume will be established and evaluated through ongoing supervision, annual reviews, and the development of an annual professional development plan.


Specific Responsibilities: 

Manage Data Quality Process and Reporting

Manage data quality process: 

  • Communicate with partner agencies regarding process, schedule, and reporting.
  • Assist partner agencies in correcting data.
  • Identify process and/or reporting changes required due to corrections or changes to HMIS Data Standard.
  • Make recommendations to improve the process and prioritize data elements.
  • Establish metrics to track quality over time.
  • Maintain and update training for partner agencies.
  • Identify training and system configuration or documentation issues affecting data entry and data quality.
  • Develop expertise at using HUD tools to track and monitor HMIS data quality.

Administration & Support 

  • Administer the scripts and platforms for the Data Quality process and reporting.
  • Work with HUD, HUD TA, and others to align our processes with available data and tools from HUD.

Other Tasks 

  • Keep current on trends and best practices in trainings and develop tools as needed. 
  • Actively participate in Staff and department meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in Chicago and will have the following:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computing, Social Sciences or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Prior experience with an HMIS system highly desirable Two years of experience in application support, data maintenance, or SQL scripting
  • Experience in defining and performing quality assurance tasks including mass testing and validation of data results.
  • Good understanding and competency in relational database management systems
  • Experience in Excel, Excel macros, Python, and/or SQL scripting preferred.
  • Good working knowledge/skills with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment.
