St Pius X High School, serving students in grades nine through twelve, is a Catholic, college preparatory school providing a quality education by embracing academic excellence and promoting social and spiritual growth.


The job of a Head Golf Coach is to design and implement the program's activities following applicable rules and regulations related to the sport; oversee assistant coaches, student managers, and /or volunteers; provide supervision of student athletes during all aspects of the program; using sound instructional techniques in overseeing program activities; serving as a positive role model to student athletes


This job reports to the Athletic Director


Responsibilities

  • Realize and appreciate the need for the golf program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department
  • Support and uphold the St. Pius X mission “To Restore All Things In Christ”
  • Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in golf
  • Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in golf
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes
  • Ensures that all golf coaches work together toward a common goal
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and regularly
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extra-curricular participation
  • Work with the athletic director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements
  • Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all times
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers, athletic director, and principal
Requirements

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Missouri State Teaching Certificate (preferred, but not required)
  • Sports First Aid Training
  • CPR Training
  • Trained in Protecting God's Children, or willing to be trained
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred, but not required.
