Camp Timber at Bridgewater YMCA - a 10 week program that runs from Monday, June 24th through Friday, August 30th - offers an exciting variety of camp options to please every kind of camper at every age!

Camp Timber is seeking a seasonal Camp Director to provide energetic camp spirit and leadership throughout a fun summer experience! This role is responsible for hands on leadership and supervision of camp counselors, executing our exciting camp curriculums, staff scheduling and coverage, responding to safety and behavioral needs, and more.

The Camp Director's primary responsibility is to lead all aspects of our traditional outdoor camp and to execute a safe and fun summer experience. Working under the direction of the Youth Development Director, in this role, it is imperative to be able to sustain and enhance a welcoming and inclusive culture while exceeding the expectations of our campers and their parents. Specific responsibilities will include leading and organizing daily camp opening and closing ceremonies, ensuring safe child release best practices at pick up time, managing medical needs of campers including intaking/storing/administering medication, anticipating ACA ratio needs and plugging in gaps in coverage, maintaining a safe atmosphere for all campers and staff, assisting in providing pre-camp trainings, leading weekly camp staff meetings, attending weekly field trips as the leader on duty, responding to camper behavioral issues in line with our discipline policy, swimming daily with our campers, leading our instructional Archery curriculum, and other duties as assigned. 

- Possess at least 4 years of education, school age child care, summer camp, or other child development experience.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience as a lead counselor, school teacher, coordinator, or other children's program leadership.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Needs Programming, or Recreation Management preferred.
- Must be curious to learn new things, ask questions, and want to learn about the overall operations of the YMCA.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Docs, GroupMe, and the ability to learn our database program (training provided).
- Exceptional speaking, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Must be in love with Summer Camp! This role is meant for outgoing, loud, and passionate individuals!
- Has experience and proven success with multi-tasking, problem solving and conflict resolution.
- Able to work without direct supervision and is self-accountable.
- Bilingual and multicultural experience a huge plus.
- Must be able to obtain a Level 1 Archery Instructor certification before the first day of camp.
- Lifeguard Certification or the ability to be trained by our Aquatics Director and become certified before the first day of camp.


*This role is a seasonal full time (40hrs per week) role. The ability to be flexible based on camp needs is required.*
Pre-Camp Trainings: TBD - held throughout June
Camp Assignment: June 24th - August 30th (must be able to work at minimum 9 out of 10 weeks)
Typical Weekly Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:30pm (with multiple breaks)
