Job Description:

Entertainment Event Staff are assigned to oversee a specific area of the venue during concerts and events produced at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater and by the Music and Entertainment Department. They are responsible for leading ushers and security teams, implementing venue rules and regulations, following procedures, and, above all else, delivering excellence in customer service. This is a Seasonal Part-Time position.


Essential Functions:

Duties and Responsibilities (Before Gates):

  • Arrive on-site at least 1.5 hours before gates to prep venue for opening or as scheduled; otherwise. 
  • Report to Entertainment Events Manager for assignment, review event documents, and check-out equipment.
  • Attend core staff meetings and conduct section briefings for ushers and security.
  • Visually sweep the area for cleanliness and potential safety issues. 
  • Place signage and stanchions as needed.
  • Confirm all staff are in position according to DOT Map and immediately communicate discrepancies to FOH Manager. 

Duties and Responsibilities (After Gates Open):

  • Supervise assigned section or area, working closely with security, ushers, janitorial, and concessions staff to create a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons.
  • Execute event operations to EIS specs.
  • Address customer service, ticketing, and seating issues.
  • Monitor crowd flow, keeping aisles and walkways clear.
  • Must be knowledgeable of and follow the proper procedures for helping patrons with disabilities.
  • Communicate all security issues with Command and FOH Manager.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Emergency Action Plan so that in case of an emergency you can inform patrons and staff of proper safety protocols and conduct venue evacuations and emergency procedures as directed by management.
  • Remain at assigned post throughout the event unless taking an approved break.
  • Continuously monitor section or area for cleanliness; report spills and house-keeping needs to Command.
  • Other duties as directed. 

Duties and Responsibilities (Post Show):

  • Assist with clearing your section or area of all patrons and vendors.
  • Check section or area for lost and found items, safety hazards, and venue damage.
  • Check out with FOH Manager, fill out event log, and turn in radio.


Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in one of the following: event management or production, concerts, festivals, catering, hospitality, or venue operations.
  • Knowledge of venue operations, FOH operations, guest services, and crowd control. 
  • Music and entertainment experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be willing to work at least 50% of the official season.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Possess an understanding of the complex needs of different types of events.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to, and appreciation for the diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, disability, and gender diversity of guests and staff attending or working at the venue.
  • Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise, and firmness.
  • Must be self-reliant, reliable, full of grit and spirit, sharp, motivated, solution-orientated, and have a positive attitude.
  • Must know how to ask questions and have the self-confidence to say, "I don't know." 
  • Must be able to "keep your cool" in challenging situations and know when to take a break.
  • Must maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements:

  • This job can be physically demanding and requires you to work long hours on your feet in oftentimes adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting.
  • Requires reliable transportation due to the location of the venue.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. waist-high, and able to assist with set up of furniture for events as needed.
  • Ability to read small print.
  • Ability to climb steps repeatedly.
  • Ability to descend/ascend ramps and inclines/declines.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Work in extreme environments outdoors throughout the year.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud during events.
