LOWER SCHOOL ART TEACHER (K-1)PART TIMEFY 2024-2025Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Classical Academy seeks a part-time K-1 Art Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Teachers are responsible for the education of their students. They are expected to demonstrate high moral character and have mastery of the subjects they teach. Teachers will work collaboratively to create a working and learning environment for all students that is safe, secure, and respectful. This position would report to the Lower School Principal on Atlanta Classical Academy’s Atlanta campus. This position starts July 2024. 


The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Adhere to the school’s mission and the principles of classical education.
  • Knowledge of the ACA art curriculum
  • Guiding students to enjoy, appreciate, and interpret art in his/her daily life
  • Encouraging and assisting students to acquire skills in art through a series of sequential experiences
  • Encouraging students to develop their own creativity by providing opportunities for creativity
  • Encouraging and promoting the coordination of art with other subject areas in the curriculum
  • Determining the materials to be used in instruction and planning the best methods for presenting them
  • Assisting in planning, preparing, and presenting programs, field trips, and festivals for the school
  • Evaluating student performance in art
  • Assisting the Head of School and Director of Fine Arts in inventorying, organizing, ordering, and caring for art materials and equipment
  • Maintaining students’ grades

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a fully accredited college is required.
  • Valid teaching certification in Georgia is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience in classical education is preferred, but not required.
  • Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Atlanta Classical Academy is an open-enrollment, public charter school open to students who reside within the Atlanta Public Schools district. The school opened in 2014 with grades K – 8, and has added a grade each year as students have advanced. It is now a K – 12 academy.
