Offshore Wind Development Analyst

The Development Associate will support the Manager of Offshore Wind Development with all aspects of business development, including auctions and M&A.  Key activities include strategy development, market screens for potential asset acquisition, due diligence and commercial analysis, deal set up and execution, external partner coordination, internal collaboration with key teams (e.g., finance, accounting/budgeting, legal, etc.), and presentations to senior management.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Manager of Offshore Wind Development in setting strategy and screening market for current and prospective projects throughout the US.
  • Supporting auction preparation activities by assisting the Bid Manager in overseeing all diligence workstreams (including Commercial, Technical, Land Acquisition, Stakeholder Engagement, etc.)
  • Overseeing key diligence activities for M&A opportunities, including key stakeholder management, quantitative and qualitative analysis and preparing Investor Committee documents.
  • Supporting Joint Venture and partnership negotiations with external 3rd parties
  • Assisting the Head of Offshore Wind in a broad range of development activities for active projects including board presentations, PPA applications, supplier coordination and miscellaneous FEED activities. 
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team across different organizations and coordinating key meetings
  • Ensuring proper alignment with Project Control, Health and Safety, Stakeholders, Commercial, Permitting and Legal
  • Supporting the negotiation of M&A deals, power purchasing agreements (PPAs), real estate transactions, stakeholder agreements, grid connection agreements
  • Conducting market assessments, site assessments, zoning assessments, and other due diligence related to site acquisition and development feasibility.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Education

  • Master’s degree, MBA preferred

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in offshore wind development, energy development investment banking, or management consulting. (Offshore wind experience is appreciated but not required).

Other Skills

  • Prior experience of working in Energy Infrastructure Development.
  • Familiarity with energy policy and regulations.
  • Strong quantitative, financial analysis and modeling.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills are also required to succeed in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects with significant responsibilities and competing priorities.

The Development Associate may be required to endure the following physical activities, environmental conditions, and physical demands:

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces,
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods,
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another,
  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 pounds in all directions,
  • Communicating with others to exchange information,
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
