JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineer works with the Vice President Engineering in engineering activities associated with the applied HVAC air handling unit design as it pertains to airflow, heat transfer, unit layout, structural support, electrical components and wiring, unit sensors and controls. The Mechanical Engineer shall assume responsibility and accountability for all technical aspects of their assigned projects applied to engineering air handling units. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure the mechanical, structural and thermodynamic integrity of the design.

- Apply knowledge of HVAC components to integrate them into an air handling unit design.

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the electrical devices and controls of air handling units to apply them to generating electrical wiring diagrams.

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the structural design of an air handling unit.

- Develop an understanding of Buffalo Air Handling units as they are applied to IBC including, but not limited to, seismic loading, wind loading, etc.

- Manage activities according to the project schedule commitments.

- Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with all customers.

- Provide guidance to manufacturing regarding sheet metal and electrical questions.

- Monitor and control design costs when enhancements are made to unit and component designs.

- Design special mechanical components to meet job-specific requirements.

- Utilize SolidWorks 3D to design and model assemblies and components.

- Collaborate with the assigned Designer to develop job-specific SolidWorks models and drawings.

Requirements

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

- Experienced with SolidWorks modeling software and finite element analysis software.

- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and MS Access.

- Background in HVAC related controls.

- Strong organizational skills; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

- Able to clearly communicate technical concepts in both oral and written English.

- Able to interact professionally at all levels within and outside of the organization.

- Able to work cooperatively in project/process teams.

- Experience in program/app development, troubleshooting, and testing. (Preferred)


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or HVAC Engineering.

- Experience in the design of HVAC systems with a consulting engineering firm or design build firm.

- Licensed Professional Engineer. (Preferred)


This is a salary, exempt position and is not remote.
