As the Business Intelligence Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems that are used to collect and analyze business intelligence data. You will assist in creating dashboards, databases, and other platforms that allow for efficient collection and evaluation of BI data. You will work closely with client services staff, customers and other stakeholder to gain an understanding of BI goals and objectives to ensure the systems and their capabilities support competitive research efforts that achieve those goals. You could be also looked upon to train other staff members and customers on the use of BI tools and programs. Requirements


Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions that leverage and expand upon the customers Business Intelligence (BI) platform
  • Drive the strategic and tactical design and deployment of BI processes and procedures
  • Ensure the use of BI applications enhance the business decision-making process and capabilities
  • Create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement that drives cross-functional engagement within the operational and centralized planning and analytics areas
  • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to align priorities, build and execute development plans and communicate solution design trade-offs and recommendations
  • Define and enforce standards to sustain the platform’s effectiveness; experiment with and promote adoption of new tools and approaches when appropriate
  • Mentor and train analytical resources in best practices; simplify and communicate success stories to broader audiences across the company
  • Lead the assessment, selection, and implementation of advanced analytics techniques and tools to enhance the BI platform's capabilities 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize key business questions, and translate these into data and analysis requirements 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data models, reporting systems, data automation systems, dashboards, and performance metrics support that support key business decisions 
  • Conduct reviews and audits of BI processes, applications, and infrastructure to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement 
  • Develop and implement data governance and data quality standards, procedures, and documentation
  • Ability to develop and present professional software design documents to technical and non-technical individuals


What Skills We Need From You

  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analytics delivering business solutions that rely on effective availability, usability and understandability of data and analytical workflows
  • Experience with data modeling and integration (ETL) designs and approaches
  • 3+ years of experience leading the design, development and implementation of building BI applications. Strong understanding of cloud-based data storage, querying, and data transformation solutions, particularly within Microsoft Azure environment. Experience building data pipelines in Azure Data Factory from and to CRM’s, API’s, FTP’s, File Storage, and Relational Databases. Understanding of data warehouse concepts such as: patterns for time variance and generic versus explicit data structures; standards-based approaches for object names and data types; using logical data models to document and explain business objectives.
  • 3+ years of experience in building BI tools including tools like Tableau/Power BI, R/Python, SSIS/Informatica/Pentaho etc. Understanding of best practices and principles in SQL, query design, data validation/automation and analytic functions. Proficiency in data visualization and dashboard design to effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Experience with the following business domains: Renewable Energy, Finances (Invoices, Budgets, Revenue), Inventory, Assets, Identity Resolution.
  • Proven ability to conduct thorough data analysis, including exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis to derive actionable insights 
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies and the ability to apply them to data and analytics projects. Able to manage requirement changes effectively.
  • Ability to manage workload across concurrent projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the BI and analytics domain
  • Ability to articulate design, approach, and challenges to non-technical team and stakeholders
  • Comfortable translating high level requirements into discovery and solutioning documentation
  • Experience in data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance to ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices 
  • Physically implementing and managing data security and access requirements in analytic and database tools


Education & Mindset

  • Possession of relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI, or equivalent certifications is highly desirable 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related field
