Position Summary

This position is designed to assist multiple providers in all aspects of patient care as well as some aspects of office support for student providers and departmental needs in the Oral Surgery clinic, while ensuring all HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control rules and guidelines are followed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Meticulously assist undergrads and residents/faculty with the setup of operatories and all needed instruments and armamentarium for each procedure, assist chairside when necessary, taking digital x-rays, as needed, proper follow-ups afterwards, ensuring OSHA and HIPAA guidelines, sterile technic and infection control are maintained throughout.  
     
  2. Assure proper referrals, signed treatment plans, x-rays, cashier’s receipt and other documentation are received/scanned into the EHR prior to treatment then assign patients to both students and residents using the reports provided in matching needs with patient procedures, assuring fair and equitable distribution.  
     
  3. Ensure the timely ordering of all needed dental supplies, instruments, equipment and materials (excluding implant components and office supplies), using a well maintained and up-to-date inventory tag system, including the proper disposal of all, as required.  
     
  4. Accurately maintain cassettes and instruments, keeping all properly identified, and sharpened/repaired.  
     
  5. Ensure proper care and attachment of suction apparatus and replacement of all suction reservoirs in each operatory before reaching the 500-600 mark.  
     
  6. Ensure proper care and maintenance of all department’s dental equipment using the proper reporting system.  
     
  7. Properly assemble pouches with disposables, and patient take-home bags, keeping quantities of each type needed in adequate supply.  
     
  8. Meticulously maintain and follow manufacturer’s directions for the maintenance and care of all different types of handpieces the central suction system, and other miscellaneous units.
     
  9. Carefully and in a timely manner change out/date all Sharp’s containers.

Perform other duties as assigned or requested throughout all clinics, including the Dispensary and Radiology. 

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • State of Michigan Certification in Radiology or comparable required.
  • BLS/CPR Course (UDM) to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • HIPAA and OSHA Courses (UDM) to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Castle Branch requirements also to be completed within 30 days of hire (medical safeguards such as TB, Hepatitis B, tetanus…)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with others in a diverse environment.
  • Must be highly motivated and be capable of working independently.
  • Must be professional, reliable and exhibit integrity.
  • CDA, COMSA or RDA preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of surgical and implant placement procedures.
  • Experience using a computer and EHR.

Physical Requirements

Job requires ability to bend and reach, and the ability to move freely throughout the clinic.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current certification in CPR/BLS or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
  • Current HIPAA and OSHA Certificates (UDM) or obtainable within 30 days of hire.
  • State of Michigan Radiology Certification, or comparable, required before hire.
  • My Record Tracker requirements also to be completed within 30 days of hire (medical safeguards such as TB, Hepatitis B, tetanus…)

Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience


Anticipated Schedule

Monday thru Thursday 7:00 am till 4:00 pm and Friday mornings starting 7:00 till finished (subject to change if student’s schedule is modified) 

Guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week
