Overview:


Following the establishment of Operation Smile Norway as a charitable entity in 2023, The Norway Executive Director will lead Operation Smile Norway in establishing its presence in Norway from both an income and awareness focus.  The Executive Director will be responsible for the entities’ consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The Executive Director will provide leadership on the day to day running of the charity & primarily lead the fundraising effort. 


Primary Responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Working in collaboration with the Global Development Team, of Operation Smile global headquarters, this individual will: 
  • Maintain legal, administrative, and other required processes to ensure that Operation Smile Norway continues to fulfill local charity regulations.
  • Develop and execute an ambitious, multi-year strategy to maintain and create growth from Corporate, Trust and Foundations and Major Giving funds.  
  • Working in collaboration with the global communications team to increase Operation Smile's brand awareness in Norway.
  • Identify, evaluate, research, and cultivate high-potential prospects, including corporates, trusts, and bilateral and multilateral donors. 
  • Conceive, organize, manage, and participate in regular events and meetings for prospective and current donors. 
  • Manage finances from all donors, projects, activities. 
  • Help raise awareness around cleft conditions and Operation Smile activities. 
  • Provide regular updates on the day-to-day activity, opportunities, and challenges. 
  • Exercise discretion handling confidential information. 

More Detailed Activities on New Business Development. 

  • Drive forward new business development as the key aspect of Operation Smile Norway’s annual strategy & secure 3,000,000 NOK in the first 12 months of hire.
  • Research, develop and identify a pipeline of prospect donors, including corporate partners, grant giving foundations, ultra-high net worth individuals. 
  • Strategize and conduct well planned meetings with prospect donors, articulating Operation Smile’s global values and mission. 
  • Draft and submit funding proposals for trusts, foundations, and corporations. 
  • Manage prospect portfolio and donor relationships. 
  • Monitor the progress of fundraising drivers and track revenue. 
Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant business or international field like International Management, BBA etc. 
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field considered a strong plus. 
  • 10+ years of professional working experience. 
  • 3+ years of experience in international development is preferable. 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Native Scandinavian speaking and writing. 
  • Fluency in English speaking and writing. 
  • Highly organized and self-motivated, with the ability to manage time well and prioritize effectively. 
  • Ability to develop cold relationships with the ultimate objective to raise funds.
  • Able to work diplomatically in a global, team-based environment, with various groups of stakeholders, including board members, international coworkers, government and corporate partners, medical professionals, and more. 
  • Experience with budget and financial reporting. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel, both internationally & domestically. 
  • Comfortable with remote work.
