Working at a summer camp is an unforgettable experience. If you love working with kids, and understand the energy that is required to do it well, this job might be for you. Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:
• Offer enriching, challenging, and satisfying summer experiences for all campers.
• Provide a safe, secure and supportive environment in which each child feels confident to explore, play and learn.
• Treat each child with respect, honesty, kindness and good will.
• Enable each child to feel satisfied and fulfilled by his or her experience here every day
• Be responsible for overseeing the pool and/or pond. (Guarding from chair, dock, paddleboard, etc.)
• Be responsible for maintaining a constant awareness of swimmers
• Be responsible for practicing lifeguard skills while at camp.
• Be responsible for bringing guarding equipment out each morning, and making sure to return it at the end of each day.
• Be responsible for enforcing all pool and waterfront rules
• Be responsible for acting in a professional, safe manner at all times.
• Be responsible for adherence to all rules, regulations, and polices set by the camp.
• Be responsible for other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
• Provide swimming and water safety instruction to students
Lifeguards and Swim Instructors must:
• Be Responsible for the well-being of campers.
• Assist in the supervision of campers within activities and throughout the daily camp routine.
• Assure campers are properly supervised at all times.
• Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
• Participate and be an active part of all camper activities.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude, behavior and good sportsmanship.
• Maintain a good working relationship with other counselors, the director and assistant director.
• Communicate effectively and work together in a team environment with staff
• Have a desire and enthusiasm to work with children
• Be able to accept supervision and guidance
• Maintain good character, integrity and adaptability
• Have the ability to work together with a team of one’s peers
• Be able to pass a criminal background check
• Be available to work for at least 7 weeks
• Must attend a mandatory orientation program
• Have (or will have) a current lifeguard certification

The pay range for the seven-week summer program starts at $15.00 per hour. Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any discrepancies that may exist do not relate to sex.
