Instructional and Program Management:

As a professional educator in a Catholic school, the teacher will:

  • Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Understand and appropriately teach the designated curriculum of the Diocese of Orlando.
  • Assess student progress in accordance with the approved procedures of the Diocese of Orlando.
  • Know, teach, and act consistently in accordance with the mission, philosophy objectives, and policies and procedures of the Catholic school.
  • Maintain Florida state teaching certification.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians, colleagues, and principals.
  • Participate in the Diocese of Orlando Diocesan Catechist Certification Program and school-sponsored professional development program and strive for continual professional growth. 
  • Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal.
  • Attend required faculty and staff meetings.
  • Cooperate with the principal and staff members in school-related meetings, activities, and projects.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
  • Participate in the semi-annual performance review based upon the implementation of the general responsibilities of a professional educator in a school. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters, except in cases where the health or safety of the student or others is involved. In these cases, the appropriate administrator should be notified immediately. 
  • Handle routine discipline problems within the classroom.
  • Exhibit professional standards of attendance, punctuality, grooming, language, preparation, and relationship to students as both an adult example and a member of a faith community. 
  • Must refrain from public criticism of administration, faculty, students, or parents. Is open to continuous progress using contemporary approaches of instruction, technology, and methodology. 
  • Ensure the use of technology in the teaching-learning process.

Policy, Reports and Law:

  • Implement the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local board policies in curriculum and instructional areas.
  • Compile, maintain, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.

Budgeting:

  • Administer the curriculum and instruction budget and ensure that programs are cost-effective and funds are managed prudently.
  • Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of personnel in the department and make sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Assist with designated teacher appraisal system.

Communication:

  • Provide for two-way communication with the principal, teachers, staff, parents, and community.
  • Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and the community.
  • Monitor professional research and disseminate ideas and information to other professionals.

Community Relations:

  • Articulate the Diocesan Office of School’s mission, instructional philosophy, and curriculum implementation strategies to the community and solicit its support in realizing the district’s mission.
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
  • Demonstrate use of appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parents Has a good understanding of the goals and objectives of the entire school program.

QUALIFICATIONS

CATHOLIC FAITH

Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.


Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and 

visual ability, and ability to lift as required in a normal office environment. 


Required Activities: Walking, sitting standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.  


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a teacher, it is implied that your responsibility is to supervise any student within your scope of duties.  Additionally, you may be assigned direct supervisory duties


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

You are required to obtain all necessary certifications related to your teaching duties.
