Reports To: Director of Religious Education & Pastor

FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Part-Time

Work schedule: Must be flexible as hours will vary



Position Summary:

The Faith Formation Assistant provides support to various Parish offices, including but not limited to: Faith Formation office, RCIA Coordinator,  and Front Office. This position will also perform various office administrative duties as is needed, and may be required to work some evenings and weekends as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes and interacts with parishioners and visitors
  • Provides general information and directs people or calls to the appropriate personel
  • Prepares responses to correspondence as directed
  • Assists in preparing registration deposits and records accordingly
  • Files and retrieves organizational documents, records, and reports
  • Monitors inventory of office supplies and equipment and orders as needed
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of staff and parish information
  • Creates and modifies documents such as reports, letters, flyers and e-mails
  • May conduct research, compile data and prepare documents for supervisor review
  • Prepares agendas and makes arrangements for meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum 2 years of previous ministry experience in a Catholic environment required
  • Previous Catholic Formation
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team promoting a cohesive positive work environment
  • Proven ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proven ability to multitask, and complete projects in a timely manner
  • Must be flexible as work hours will vary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish)
  • Previous general office/administrative experience
  • Experience and/or ability to learn new software
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to communicate to various levels of management and staff
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, fostering a positive work environment

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally required to climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds with assistance if needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
