Job Summary


The Kitchen Supervisor directs the organization, preparation, and facilitation of well-balanced meals for the campers, staff, and guests. Kitchen Supervisors direct and ensure that all standards set forth in Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains (GSTOP) Safety Activity Checkpoints, America Camp Association (ACA), and the Texas Department of Health are all always met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Operate electrical and mechanical equipment, including steamer, warming ovens, convection oven, electric slicer, dishwasher, and flat grill. 
  • Supervise training of all staff regarding cleanliness of dining room, tables, and utensils prior to returning to kitchen after each meal.  
  • Ensure the kitchen and dining room continually has the necessary supplies readily available and be prepared to make a shopping list and shop for items not kept on hand.  
  • Direct, plan, and help facilitate nutritious, appealing menus to prepare from whole food ingredients and curate a collection of scaled recipes that meet menu, dietary, and budget needs. 
  • Plan, purchase, store, and manage inventory of food products and quantities for quality, cost-effectiveness, and safety. 
  • Develop and implement systems and processes for smooth, sustainable administration of camp food service operations, including creating roles and checklists, writing instructions and guidelines, creating trainings, and keeping records. 
  • Lead meal preparation, service, and clean-up for up to three meals and two snacks per day. 
  • Accommodate dietary needs with appealing, appropriate alternatives to the main offerings. 
  • Manage kitchen equipment and supplies and overall dining hall space for organization, function, and hospitality. 
  • Maintain a welcoming and purposeful environment to ensure positive visitor experience for diverse members. 
  • Ensure a high level of health and safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene, including managing compliance with state health department regulations, ACA standards, and Girl Scout policies and procedures. 
  • Supervise kitchen staff, assigning duties and schedules. 
  • Assist in supervision of sanitary conditions in kitchen and dining hall according to standards, including pantry, food storage, and use of leftovers. 
  • Prepare menu options for Cookouts and Pack Outs.  
  • Assist with ordering food from approved suppliers, keeping within budget guidelines. (work with Camp Director) 
  • Keep inventory of kitchen and dining hall equipment.  
  • Prepare for and participate in staff training and meetings.  
  • Participate in "All Camp" and special program activities. 
  • Ensure the dining room and kitchen are continually clean and hygienic.  
  • Direct and participate in the end of summer cleaning and packing of all materials and supplies and inventory.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS - Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Minimum 21 years of age.  
  • Experience working with children preferred. 
  • Current Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain one (provided if needed). 
  • Commitment to the mission and purpose of Girl Scouting. 
  • Must be willing to collaborate with all persons without regard to race, religion, ethnic origin, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, age, or disability. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.  
  • Verbal fluency, good grammar, and professional appearance. 
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state where employee works/resides, with an acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation. 
  • Must complete and pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, and drug screening.

 CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

  • Food Handlers License (Provided if needed) 
  • First Aid and CPR with AED (Provided if needed)

$14.00 Hourly
