As a contract employee, you are bound by the contents of your contract as well as the BMCHS Faculty Handbook which required your signature.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and facilitate small group formation for students.
  • Collaborate with religion teachers to foster encounters with the Lord and His Church including creating and presenting lessons to religion classes.
  • Plan and execute retreats, small groups, and other spiritual activities in conjunction with the Director of Mission Effectiveness and the Director of Spiritual Development.
    • Sports team retreats
    • One grade-level retreat per year
    • Men’s/Women’s retreat
    • Discernment retreat
    • Other retreat needs as identified
  • Foster professional relationships with students, teachers, and staff which abide by Safe Environment policies.
  • Communicate Campus Ministry events with the school community.
  • Coordinate school liturgical events.
  • Organize monthly social events for students.
  • Assist in lunch duty and Campus Ministry room supervision.
  • Visible presence among students in student areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by Administration.
  • Coordinate Campus Ministry monthly presence at student activities such as sporting events, dances, concerts, etc.
  • Coordinate seasonal liturgical decorations with the facilities manager and campus ministry staff.
  • Work with assigned grade-level teachers to develop service-learning model concepts and aid in classroom dialogue as the model develops.

Communication

  • Responds to phone, email, and in-person inquiries related to Campus Ministry.
  • Actively works with the Director of Mission Effectiveness to determine appropriate communication for Campus Ministries activities within the school community.
  • Regularly communicates about campus ministry activities to the Director of Mission Effectiveness and seeks feedback about programming efficacy.
  • Informs the school community (students, staff, and parents) of campus ministry opportunities, goals, and results.
  • Keep parents informed of campus ministry activities through the school website and periodic email blasts.
  • Sets annual goals and objectives for campus ministry program in collaboration with the Principal and Director of Mission Effectiveness.
  • Shares Campus Ministry Events with those managing social media.

Campus Minister – Community Outreach

  • Organize up to 4 school-side donation drives per year.
  • Cultivate relationships with community partners for volunteer/service opportunities (i.e., JMJ, Covenant House, Catholic Charities, Bishop Grady Villas).

Campus Minister – Faith Formation

  • Develop themes and organize small group discussions with students.
  • Coordinate and execute a yearly women’s retreat for girls.
  • Coordinate and execute a yearly men’s retreat for boys.
  • Oversee small prayer groups for students (possibly led by peer ministers).

Campus Minister – Liturgy

  • Plan the execution of school liturgies and special liturgical celebrations.
  • Plan of prayer services for students.
  • Plan monthly liturgical service for faculty.
  • Communicate with clergy regarding services in the BMC community.

Campus Minister – Retreat

  • Plans student retreats for all grade levels to include all aspects.
  • Communicate with parents about the retreat and provide information.
  • Provide forms, as needed, for permission.
  • Contract with venues and services as needed.
  • Develop a service-learning model and work with campus ministers to facilitate concepts. 

  • CATHOLIC FAITH

Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability, and ability to lift as required in a normal office environment. 

Required Activities: Walking, sitting standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.
