Thomas is looking for an individual to work as a Utility worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and cleaning residence halls, athletic buildings, offices, classrooms and corridors. Duties to include but not limited to; general maintenance of all buildings and spaces as well as restroom cleaning, floor care (carpet and tile), dusting, cleaning windows, trash removal, and custodial equipment utilization. Skills in painting, minor sheetrock repair, and carpentry are preferred. Seasonal duties include snow removal.


Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.


Respond to afterhours, urgent maintenance calls or remain on duty for emergency work as needed. Also, respond as the “On-Call” person while carrying a pager when scheduled for this responsibility. It is expected that the person responsible will be available to return to the campus on short notice for any maintenance related task.


Qualifications:

Must be able to read and write. Must be proficient in computer systems. Must have knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools and the ability to operate lawn and snow-removal equipment. Evaluate situations and be able to make good decisions. Ability to read and respond to caution labels associated with cleaning chemicals and other associated tools of the trade.


Must be able to pass a criminal background check and fitness-for-duty test. An acceptable driving record is highly desirable. Minimum of two years’ experience in the aforementioned responsibilities, good, to superior, references in the field. HS diploma or GED certificate is required.
