Description

Position Summary: 

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for the preparation, review, and interpretation of financial data and reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and other accounting regulations.

Essential Functions:  

· Reconcile general ledger accounts, aging reports, and bank statements

· Prepare journal entries, including accrual entries

· Investigate, resolve, and document accounting discrepancies and irregularities 

· Assist in month-end and year-end close processes (reconciling AR, AP, payroll, cash, credit and inventories)

· Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other reporting as required

· Assist with the annual audit process and 990 preparations

· Assist in the annual budgeting process, including maintaining the necessary templates 

· Actively contribute to process improvement initiatives including system integrations

· Assists with special projects, audits or analysis as needed

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting best practices and understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP principles
  • Demonstrated aptitude for analyzing financial data 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive information, possess a high degree of personal integrity and sound judgment 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders, vendors, or other entities
  • Ability to collaborate with others to identify and solve issues or make proactive recommendations and lead through influence
  • Experience in Accounts Payable is strongly desired

Technology/Equipment:

  • Working knowledge of accounting systems 
  • Intermediate Excel skills including using pivot tables and Vlookup
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of ADP

Salary Description
$70,000-75,000
