Job Summary

The Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of safely producing cabinet components on time, complete, to quality standards, to material usage standards, and to productivity standards by maximizing the personnel, material, equipment, and information resources available, and supervision of staff. The department supervisor will be in charge of the cutting department that has multiple machines including panel saws, edgebanders, routers, etc.


This is a salaried position.

 

**Please note that you will be required to travel up to 4 weeks to Howard Lake, Minnesota between your first 60-90 days of employment.** 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety procedures are followed within the department.
  • Ensures effective employee relations, provides coaching and development, resolves employee issues through problem resolution.  
  • Conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions for openings in the department.
  • Monitors schedule and productivity reporting on a continuous basis and directs associates to make adjustments to meet the schedule and productivity goals.
  • Determines productivity goals for department through maintaining labor expenditures.
  • Designs and develops work team procedures, and ensures procedures are followed.
  • Researches and develops new techniques for procedure improvements.
  • Understands and troubleshoots equipment, monitors equipment for maximum output, and recommends new equipment purchases.
  • Monitors rework and backorder problems.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with all employees and managers to ensure a consistent flow of product throughout the facility.
  • Notifies Production Manager of potential and existing problems that might interrupt production flow.
Requirements

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Intermediate computer skills are required. 
  • Directly supervises approximately 10 – 20 employees in the respective department
