Description

Elko Community Health Center is seeking an experienced certified professional coder. The ideal candidate is a self-starting, independent coder who thrives in a congenial, technical based environment. Infusion, procedures and/or surgeries are the major scope of work. We support multiple specialties and encourage the expansion of knowledge, team and individual.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and review applicable charges on the appropriate patient’s account
  • Code and charge entering of the clinic, and outpatient services, procedures, supplies, and drugs, in the practice management system
  • Initiate and process charge and diagnosis corrections
  • Maintain appropriate documents, reports, and files to comply with all applicable laws and policies using the storage and practice management systems
  • Identify charge and coding discrepancies and confer with internal or external parties to resolve
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other staff members to ensure accurate documentation and coding
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations
  • Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Nationally recognized coder certification (CPC/CCS) required
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years in the healthcare reimbursement field
  • Knowledge of insurance company’s procedures and policies
  • Knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to collection activities
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding
  • Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, Internet browsing and medical practice management software
