Position Summary:

Do you love research and writing? Does your passion shine through written communication? This role will lead out grants and foundation relationship management through research, writing, reporting and foundation relationship cultivation. Additionally, this position will support and collaborate with the Donor Care Coordinator to ensure all donors are receiving appropriate appreciation and attention, particularly those interested in estate planning. This role will lead the research and communication plan for donors interested in estate planning resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilization of database tools (Virtuous) for documentation, external research (Google, LinkedIn) to facilitate foundation research, proposal/grant writing, lead generation, cultivation, and reporting process.
  • Research and recommend estate planning resources to appropriate donors and Donor Engagement Team.
  • The coordinator will contact appropriate prospects identified through the research and conduct an assessment of viability. 
  • The coordinator will facilitate next steps including meetings/presentations for viable leads.
  • The coordinator will capture all the requirements for the grant submission process, and ensure that the proposal is well written and follows all the requirements. 
  • The coordinator will ensure that all updates, required reports and engagement opportunities are being appropriately tracked and completed.
  • The coordinator will research and share recommended estate planning resources including donor advised funds, wills, trusts, etc. for individual donors, team members’ portfolios, and proactive estate planning communications.
  • The coordinator will collaborate with the Donor Care Coordinator to ensure all donors are receiving appropriate engagement.

Deliverables:

  1. Meet the budgeted grant income goal yearly.
  2. Maintain and grow current and future foundation funder relationships.
  3. Coordinate with program personnel to ensure timely completion and submission of grant applications and reports.
  4. Plan and execute communication plans for long term donors and estate planning resources.
  5. Thank and communicate with any assigned donors in a timely manner (within 48 hours).

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS -

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Communication techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Collecting qualitative and quantitative information through research and interviews.
  • CRM or donor database software (Virtuous preferred).
  • General understanding of fundraising, specifically grants/foundations and estate planning. Knowledge of the fundraising model Benevon a plus.

Skills:

  • Basic technological skills: using computers,, and telephones as well as trouble-shooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with leadership, clients, donors, and peers.
  • Basic professional skills.
  • Determining organizational needs and donor's ability and affinity.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills. Please note, a writing sample will be requested.

Experience:

  • Minimum three years in grant writing or a related field(s).
  • Preferably with a non-profit, education, copywriting/editing, Human Services, or other related industry in fund development, stewardship, advancement services or related field. Previous experience interacting with donors is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with word processing, spreadsheet programs, and database management. 
  • General understanding of Google Suite.
  • General understanding of CRM Virtuous.

Other Requirements:

  • Languages: Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, in the English language, with proper etiquette.
  • Office or other equipment: Normal use and understanding of basic office equipment including the computer and its related software.
  • Able to learn donor database software for the purpose of research and data updates.
