REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources and Diversity   

CLASSIFICATION: Annual part-time, non-exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: 24-hours per week. Weekday availability required (Monday-Friday).

COMPENSATION: $24-$26 an hour; DOE


POSITION SUMMARY


Berkeley Repertory Theatre has grown from a storefront stage to an international leader in innovative theatre. Known for its ambition, relevance, and excellence, as well as its adventurous audience, the nonprofit has provided a welcoming home for emerging and established artists since 1968. Over 6 million people have enjoyed more than 500 shows at Berkeley Rep, including 85 world premieres. Berkeley Rep shows have gone on to win 8 Tony Awards, 9 Obie Awards, 11 Drama Desk Awards, 1 Grammy Award, 1 Pulitzer Prize, and many other honors. In recognition of its place on the national stage, Berkeley Rep received the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre in 1997. Through its annual seven-play season, together with up to four special event presentations, Berkeley Rep invites audiences to enjoy an eclectic range of theatrical experiences featuring diverse artistic voices, themes, and perspectives.


Berkeley Rep seeks a deeply collaborative, curious, and mindful individual for the new part-time position of human resources and diversity coordinator. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with a demonstrated commitment to antiracism, equity, diversity, inclusion, and access. As a member of the human resources and diversity team, the human resources and diversity coordinator will work cross functionally with employees across Berkeley Rep to support human resources and diversity business functions, including, but not limited to, records management, systems, talent acquisition, and employee engagement, development, and retention. The position requires discretion and confidentiality.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Human Resources:

  • Support the director of human resources and diversity in the creation and implementation of inclusive recruitment efforts. Participate in candidate screenings, interviews, and reference checks, as requested. Ensure application materials are properly documented and stored. 
  • Review job descriptions and partner with managers and supervisors to ensure job descriptions are updated annually. 
  • Partner with the payroll administrator to coordinate and track Harassment Prevention and Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Trainings. Ensure that employee training certificates are accurate in Berkeley Rep’s payroll and human capital management software, Paylocity. Coordinate and facilitate Harassment Prevention catch up sessions for production companies, as needed.  
  • Support the director of human resources and diversity in the management of Paylocity modules, including but not limited to Performance, Recruiting, and Community. Assist with data entry and record maintenance. 
  • Partner with the director of human resources and diversity to schedule and coordinate Company Meetings. 
  • Support data projects, including but not limited to employee climate and engagement surveys. 
  • Serve on Berkeley Rep staff committees, as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned. 

Antiracism, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Access (AEDIA):

  • Serve on the Staff Continued Education Committee to identify and create companywide AEDIA initiatives and learnings. Distribute meeting notes and track committee deliverables. In coordination with the director of human resources, schedule AEDIA learning sessions. 
  • Partner with the director of human resources and diversity to collect, analyze, and distribute AEDIA data, as requested.
  • Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive, and rigorous work culture. Actively model Berkeley Rep values in the workplace and treat all Berkeley Rep constituents with respect.  
Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent active listening skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence and cultural competency. 
  • Excellent follow-through and documentation practices. 
  • Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with colleagues. 
  • Ability to problem-solve and negotiate with diplomacy. 
  • Appetite for immersion in all aspects and structures of a large-scale regional theater. 
  • Ability to learn new digital platforms quickly, experience with Paylocity is a plus.

Salary Description
$24-$26 per hour.
