Department Manager

Description

The Production Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation of safely producing cabinet components on time, complete, to quality standards, to material usage standards, and to productivity standards by maximizing the personnel, material, equipment, and information resources available, and supervision of staff.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety procedures are followed in department.
  • Monitors quality and material usage within the department.
  • Administers the production flow of cabinet components.
  • Monitors schedule and productivity reporting on a continuous basis and directs department Lead people to make adjustments to meet the schedule and productivity goals.
  • Determines productivity goals for department through maintaining labor expenditures.
  • Notifies Inventory Control Manager of low quantities of component parts and accessories.
  • Designs and develops work team procedures, and ensures Must Procedures are adhered to.
  • Verifies quality of cabinets constructed. 
  • Researches and develops new techniques for procedure improvements.
  • Researches and recommends new equipment purchases.
  • Monitors rework and backorder problems.
  • Advises and consults with R&D about incorrect shop floor prints.
  • Reviews vendor performances.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with all employees and Managers to ensure a consistent flow of product throughout the facility.
  • Notifies Production Manager of potential and existing problems which might interrupt production flow.
Requirements
  • High School education and two (2) years supervisory experience. Post-secondary education will be considered as credit towards supervisory experience requirement.
