 About Us The St. Louis Jewish Community Center (the J) has been providing excellent health and cultural experiences for the entire community for over 140 years. We are hiring for a Camp Director Nat Koplar. 


Summary:

The Jewish Community Center (the J) has an opening for an Early Childhood Camp Director for Camp Nat Koplar for the 2024 Summer Camp Day Program. This is a seasonal position available at our Creve Coeur location. Camp runs Monday-Friday for 10 weeks, June 3 to August 9. In Camp Nat Koplar, campers are between the ages of 3 to 5 years. We provide traditional camp activities, such as swimming, arts and crafts, cooking, sports, Shabbat, and nature. Attendance is mandatory for staff orientation, May 28-June 3.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement and supervise summer program for Early Childhood children.
  • Create camp schedule.
  • Work with Day Camp Director.
  • Assist Counselors in appropriately managing situations related to dysregulation.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate counselors throughout the summer.
  • Define camp goals and plan programming to reflect those goals.
  • Serve as lead staff person in administering the program.
  • Make accommodations to activities as needed to allow the camper to fully participate.
  • Develop procedures for camp operations including record keeping, carpool, swimming, and lunch.
  • Maintain regular parent communications.
  • Provide quality customer service at all times.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be available for the entire duration of camp (June 3-August 9).
  • High School Diploma/GED required; College Degree preferred.
  • Previous camp or childcare experience essential.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with one’s peer group, parents, as well as to campers age and skill levels.
  • Ability to provide guidance, supervision, and engage with children and staff in an enthusiastic manner is required.
  • Ability to teach and lead activities is required.
  • Ability to assist campers in emergency situations, including fire, evacuation, illness, or injury.
  • Good character, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Past Judaic experiences preferred.
  • Must pass Family Care Registry Background screening and Finger-Print Background Check.
