Objective

Mack Industries is looking for an entry level estimator with working knowledge and experiences in construction management project management and/or estimating to join our team. In this position one would work jointly with our Engineering and General Management to learn the responsibilities related to preparing budgets, estimates, and pre- bid packages for construction projects.

Essential Functions

• Analyze required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of a project
• Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
• Prepare material and cost estimates for the service or product
• Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors
• Solicits and analyzes subcontractor and vendor pricing input when required
• Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management
• Develops unit costs accurately
• Gather and monitor actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history
• Manage bids from vendors and contractors
• Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis
• Willingness to develop new skills and progress current skills in project specific estimating
• Willingness to assist other departments as needed

Education and Training

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, estimating, project management or related field preferred, not required, experience can replace education
• CAD proficiency required
• Certified Professional Estimator or Associate Estimating Professional Certification a plus
• Finance, cost accounting or project management experience a plus

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred
• Proficiency in mathematics, statistics, cost and data analysis preferred
• Knowledge in cranes, construction, and production a plus
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimated for large projects
• Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database management programs
• Advanced computer skills a plus, proficient in excel preferred
• Advanced time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skill

Environment Conditions and Physical Strain

• Production shop environment, seasonal weather conditions
• Office conditions
• Due to the nature of the operation, the levels of noise, dust and dirt can be high
