The Group Therapist provides all aspects of training and group facilitation to participants of the Family Education & Support programs. The Group Therapist delivers parenting education sessions to parents with mental health conditions or diagnoses.
The position is a part time role at located at 833 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107, with a fluctuating 3-5 hours week, in the evenings, with a starting hourly rate of $35 - $45.00 based on experience

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Co-Facilitates Parenting Plus training to adult learners; facilitates sessions in the absence of Learning & Development Specialist.
- Assesses learning styles of learners and balances individual with collective learner needs; answers questions and clarifies information to training participants.
- Appropriately prepares with co-facilitator to effectively deliver training content.
- De-escalates training participants as required.
- Participates in required education or training required by funders as required by contract agreements.
- Participates in the continuous evaluation and quality improvement of the Institute@MHP by facilitating training assessments, providing feedback to inform instructional practices and updating training content as required.
- Proctors course exams to ensure validity of scoring and integrity of testing process.
- Other duties as assigned to fulfill MHP's mission.
- Master’s degree in a related field required.
- Credentialed as a Licensed Social Worker through the PA Certification Board.
- 3+ years of experience in trauma-informed approaches to working with clients (including internships and volunteer work).
- 3+ years of training and/or experience with harm reduction approaches to working with clients with SUD (including internships and volunteer work).
- Must possess basic computer skills to perform job duties including desktop computing, e-mail, timesheet management, electronic health records, internet research, etc. using relevant software.
- Knowledge of clinical theory and practice, community resources and systems, financial/social resources, and experience in interviewing, assessment and implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the various resources and providers within the social services systems including the Office of Homeless Services and the Behavioral Health System. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.

- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines and billable unit requirements, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Strong skill sets in oral and written communication, cultural competence, interpersonal relationships and teamwork, attention to detail, customer service, time management, autonomy, problem solving and organization.
- Must have access to a car to use for work on a daily basis.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a car to use for work on a daily basis. Must have automobile insurance coverage at the state requirement levels and current state registration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Sit at a desk with ergonomically appropriate equipment.
- Must be available for overnight travel.
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Set up of training room including the physical demands of arranging tables, setting up AV and other training equipment and materials.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions while meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards safely and successfully with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent talking and listening. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly and accurately; possible exposure to loud and/or vulgar language and hostile gestures, given participant mental health diagnoses and challenges.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and be available for flexible work schedule, including evenings and /or overtime as needed.
- Some of a Group Therapist’s time is spent in community settings; must be able to travel within the community that may not be handicap accessible: walking, drive agency vehicles, and/or take public transportation depending on the needs of the program.
- Remain awake during entire shift, including break times.
