Description

The Museum School of Avondale Estates seeks a qualified, dynamic, and passionate Spanish Teacher. The Spanish Teacher will develop and implement lessons that are hands-on, interactive, and aligned with the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Additionally, the Spanish Teacher will differentiate curriculum for students based on ability levels and learning styles.


The mission of The Museum School of Avondale Estates is to inspire students, teachers, and the community to collaborate to develop strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and academic skills in our students, which will prepare them for real-world success. The Museum School offers the accessibility of a public school with the organizational and curricular innovation of a museum school model. Beginning at the neighborhood level, students develop a strong sense of community, independence, responsibility, and respect for the impact of their decisions and actions on others. These skills will inspire them with the confidence to identify and manage problems at the local and global levels.


Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction based on the museum school model, guidelines for differentiating curriculum, and best practices
  • Increasing student growth and achievement by developing and implementing lessons and activities based on individual needs and learning styles
  • Planning collaboratively with school staff and museum staff to develop thematic units, Learning Expeditions, and prepare for Exhibit Nights
  • Analyzing data to determine individual students’ areas of strength and areas in need of improvement and using this data to influence instructional decisions
  • Monitoring student progress through formal and informal assessments
  • Monitoring personal progress through reflection and creation of a Professional Growth Plan
  • Implementing a pro-active, consistent, and effective classroom management system
  • Participating in Professional Development workshops and opportunities



Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree; Degree in the field of (Spanish) education preferred
  • Georgia certification in appropriate field of education; Certification/Endorsement in more than 1 field preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience implementing various instructional and teaching methodologies
  • Design art lessons and creative experiences to target student needs.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population preferred
  • Experience integrating curriculum, Georgia Standards of Excellence, and effective instructional practices
  • Experience with Readers, Writers, and Math Workshop preferred
  • Experience in creating standards-based lessons, units, and assessments
  • Experience with data analysis and tailoring instruction based on data
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and implementation skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Select and maintain art tools, supplies, and materials. Ensures students have appropriate materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned
