Senior Electrical Designer

Description

  

As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will have the opportunity to creatively solve complex problems, coordinate with team members in other engineering disciplines, and develop approaches to widely varied projects which are multi-disciplinary and vary widely in size.

· Work with an electrical engineer or independently to develop the preliminary design concepts from clients into complete, functional systems. 

· Work with an electrical engineer or independently to develop one-line diagrams, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layout, PLC wiring diagrams, medium (15kV-600 V) and low (600V and below) voltage motor schematics, cable tray & conduit routing plans, duct bank plans and cable schedules. 

· Size wire, cable tray, conduit and over-current protection devices. 

· Specify equipment with the engineer and coordinate with vendors.

· Utilize electrical engineering documents including cable and conduit schedules, I/O lists, electrical load lists and client drawing specifications. 

· Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and structural staff to develop efficient designs and identify and mitigate interferences between disciplines.

· Coordinate with clients and contractors. 

Travel will comprise 5% to 10% for site investigations, design reviews and construction inspection and coordination.

Requirements

  

What Makes You a Good Candidate

· 5+ years of experience including drafting and design on industrial projects.

· Previous experience must demonstrate an ability to design low voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, instrumentation & control systems with minimal support from engineers. 

· Knowledge of medium voltage power distribution system design is a plus.

· Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards (NEC, API, NEMA, NESC, and NFPA). 

· 5+ years of experience with Autodesk software programs such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Electrical and Navisworks. 

· Excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Computer skills need to include the MS Office Suite.
