OMNI Institute is a 501c3 nonprofit consultancy that supports nonprofit organizations, philanthropies, government agencies, and social ventures to accelerate positive social change toward a more equitable society. We provide research, evaluation, and capacity-building services through a 100% fee-for-service project-based consulting model. We have 51 staff located in 15 states. Our primary areas of focus include Community Health, Behavioral Health, Adult & Juvenile Justice, Economic Security, and Children & Families.  


The Opportunity

OMNI Institute seeks candidates for a Learning and Development Manager position within our Learning & Development (L&D) practice, and we strongly encourage applicants from underrepresented backgrounds to apply for this position (our Diversity and Inclusion statement is included at the end of this posting and more is available at OMNI Institute). 


The L&D Manager will lead coaching, training, planning, capacity building, and facilitation projects with community groups, nonprofit organizations, and other clients in various community-led, equity-centric processes. These processes will include community and partner engagement; training design, development, and facilitation; community assessments; capacity building; strategic planning; logic model design; professional coaching; and other organization/coalition development areas.  The Manager will cultivate client relationships, lead small teams support projects across OMNI’s portfolio of projects, and build deep community relationships in their local region of Colorado. The L&D Manager will work closely and collaboratively with OMNI’s research and evaluation teams, alongside the L&D team members, across multiple projects. This fully remote position must be based in Colorado, with a preference for frontier and rural areas.

  • Skilled in designing, developing, and facilitating in-person, hybrid, virtual, and asynchronous (self-guided online) trainings with primarily adult audiences.
  • Deep knowledge of and experience in centering equity (especially health equity), diversity, and inclusion in your work.
  • A passion for and experience in helping people, communities, and organizations through community-led processes, especially in the public health and adjacent fields. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. 
  • Colorado Prevention Specialist Certification II strongly preferred.

What this role will look like

In 90-days you will have:

  • Completed our onboarding process and have a foundational understanding of the work we do, the role you will be expected to play on projects and have a working knowledge of the systems and processes we use in our work.
  • Built meaningful connections with your project team members and the broader OMNI team. 
  • Received your first project assignments, met with the project teams that you are leading and the project oversight who is overseeing your work, and have developed a clear understanding of the role you will play and specific expectations for each project.
  • Met with your community partners across Colorado and have developed an understanding of their unique challenges and local context. 
  • Started making meaningful contributions to projects at OMNI and with your local community partners. 
  • Begun the Colorado Prevention Specialist II Certification training.

Some of what you may do during your first year at OMNI: 

Your work at OMNI will be primarily organized into small project teams that complete the work in a specific scope of work for a client.  Examples include providing coaching and capacity-building support for grantees with the client being the funder, developing a series of customized trainings for a local health department to increase their organizational capacity, or leading a coalition through a needs assessment and strategic planning process. OMNI team members work on 4-8 projects at one time, but this number can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. As an L&D Manager, you will both lead projects and contribute significantly to completing project work.  

Contribute to project work across our topic and content areas and with different teams and staff. Some of your work may include:

  • Lead assessments of the needs, resources, and readiness of agencies, communities, or regions while applying and adapting different assessment models and frameworks. 
    • Facilitate data-driven planning and decision-making processes based on assessment findings. 
    • Facilitate different phases of strategic planning, implementation and organizational enhancements. 
    • Design and execute evaluation infrastructure through logic model development.
    • Develop and deliver content-specific trainings, 
  • Leading small project teams:
    • Lead small internal project teams (typically 3-8 people), including developing workplans, delegating work to team members, and supporting team members in completing their assigned work.  
    • Developing meeting agendas, follow-up on project tasks, managing project communications, and note-taking. Monitor workplans, timelines, budget, and staffing needs to ensure that project tasks are progressing as needed to accomplish overall goals on schedule and navigate adjustments as needed.
    • Serve as the primary client contact for project, including conducting client meetings, maintaining strong relationships, and being the primary liaison between the client and internal project teams. This includes having conversations with clients around budget, timelines, and navigating changes to the project.  
  • Leading and build internal capacity: 
    • Lead resource development and/or training/brown bag for a the internal L&D best practice team, to support OMNI staff in building their capacity in specific L&D skills.
    • Coordinate among, and provide guidance, mentorship, and support to, team members working on the project/components 
    • Support business development efforts through developing new scopes of work for services, support in the development of content for proposals as related to one’s methodological/content strengths (e.g., write a section on effectively engaging community members).
    • Identify key learnings and improvements from projects and contribute new and improved approaches to our knowledge management and best practice teams.
  • With OMNI’s support, completion of Colorado Prevention Specialist II certification.

Salary & Benefits

This is a full-time position with a starting annual salary of $73,164 plus benefits, which include:

Location

This position is a remote-based position but is required to live in Colorado. Individuals living outside of the Denver metro area in rural and frontier communities across Colorado are strongly encouraged to apply.
