Terms: Regular full time, exempt; eligible for a hybrid model of onsite and remote work and which may vary according to business need

Compensation: $70K - $80K annually

Primary Purpose

The Engagement & Policy Manager position’s focus is supporting the commitment to advancing zero waste solutions in collaboration with community partners across Minnesota. Working closely with the Director of Policy and Advocacy, this position will work to expand our impact by engaging community partners in the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition and other collaborative projects, develop our community tour program to further engage community members in zero waste conversations, and provide communications externally to an activated base of advocates who understand the benefits of zero waste through the lenses of environmental justice and climate change.

Requirements

 

Responsibilities of the Engagement & Policy Advocacy Manager:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Policy and Advocacy to develop our policy agenda.
  • Support the advancement of our policy agenda at the state, local and federal levels.
  • Act as an ambassador and representative of the organization and mission, demonstrating our values through thoughtful and respectful engagement with community partners and policymakers.
  • Support the organization, coordination, and logistics of regular community coalition meetings, including those of the full membership gatherings, special events, and one-on-one relationships.
  • Work closely with core coalition members to facilitate meetings, set agendas, and ensure effective decision-making.
  • Act as the central point of contact for internal communication within the coalition, ensuring timely and effective information flow around activities, policy campaigns, people, and partnerships.
  • Identify and plan for special presentations, forums, and other events to engage stakeholders and community members in zero waste work.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance our communications with coalition partners, supporters, and the wider community.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative environment that encourages active participation and engagement from community partners in coalition work.
  • Support the development of Eureka’s Tour Program in ways that better engage movement allies and policymakers.
  • Support our social media platforms including a website and social media to spread the voices of our movement from Eureka and its allies.
  • Draft communications for external and internal audiences.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to engage effectively with different stakeholders and across geographies and cultures.
  • Experience with policy advocacy and movement building.
  • Experience and ability to engage BIPOC communities and build collaborative relationships.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong passion for environmental protection, waste reduction, and social justice
  • Must have reliable transportation for travelling to a variety of sites, potentially to multiple sites during the same work day
  • Experience in coalition building, community organizing, or project management is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are typical for a remote/hybrid office environment. Will require virtual meetings, digital collaboration tools, and internet connectivity.
